Karen was an answer to my prayers. Curious by nature, she entered my life in 2011. Today, we are well past fifty, shaped by real life, and between us have raised nine children. Our paths were not straight, but we never stopped believing in love, in faith, or the decision to choose one another.

Fogey Freedom did not begin as a plan. It began as a nudge.

In April 2020, Karen and I were standing together, talking — not about a website, not about a brand — but about people. About age. About how the world quietly begins to treat experience as expendable. Somewhere in that conversation, two words surfaced. Karen said Fogey. I said Freedom. Neither of us knew why — only that they belonged together.

Right there, with Karen beside me, I traced what I imagined Fogey Freedom could be. I drew it in the sand, knowing full well that the tide would take it away. That felt right. What mattered wasn’t permanence. It was obedience to the idea. Click here →

The years that followed were full of life — work, waiting, refinement, and clarity. Fogey Freedom stayed with us, unchanged at its core, even as we did. In January 2026, we finally gave it a home and launched FogeyFreedom.com.

Fogey Freedom exists for one simple reason: life after fifty is not a winding down. It is a revealing. Experience sharpens. Priorities clarify. Purpose becomes harder to ignore. This site exists as a place to explore that truth — thoughtfully, honestly, and without apology.
